From: databasechange To: 'John Ventura' Subject: RE: hate site suggested for blocking Date: Wed, 19 Apr 2000 10:12:45 -0700 Thanks for the submissions. I reviewed both url's and I concur that they certainly qualify for categorization in the Racism/Hate category. I have added both url's into the WebSense database. Please allow a few days for this change to appear. Thanks once again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- Jeremy Shafer Web Analyst WebSENSE, Inc. -----Original Message----- From: John Ventura [mailto:moncapitan35@hotmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 19, 2000 9:04 AM To: suggest@websense.com Subject: hate site suggested for blocking Dear Mr. Shafer (I've written here before, so I know the name :-) ) I would suggest these sites for blocking under the "Racism/Hate" site category since they certainly seem to be potentially harmful for kids at an impressionable age, and could contribute to a harassing or uncomfortable work environment for minorities in this case: http://www.geocities.com/terence_mason/ compares being gay to "necrophilia, bestiality and pedophilia" and says that hiring gays "interferes with sound moral principles", etc. The page is basically a collection of extremely anti-gay statements organized in no particular pattern. http://www.angelfire.com/mt/firstjohn1976/ starts out by saying "We believe that homosexuality is unhealthy, immoral and destructive to individuals, families and societies" and goes downhill from there, and calls being gay "a life-controlling addiction like drug abuse". I'm not gay, in case you're wondering why I'm submitting all these gay-bashing sites for review in the "hate" category :) -- I would just hate to think of impressionable children forming their opinions on gay people from reading pages like this. If your "hate site" criteria include sexual orientation, I hope you will consider these pages appropriate for blocking.
