From: david@planetsoma.com To: bmilburn@solidoak.com Dear Mr. Milburn: Recent articles in c|net and the Netizen have left me curious about the policies of your company in relation to sites blocked by CyberSitter. As a web publisher and self-employed Internet Consultant, I am from time to time asked for information about blocking software. So that I may give my clients the "full story", as it were, I would appreciate it if you could take the time to answer a few brief questions. First, is it in fact true that your organization routinely blocks access from ALL sites promoting gay and lesbian issues, regardless of any pornographic or explicit sexual references? This is the impression I get from your "policies" page. Second, is it also true that CyberSitter routinely blocks sites which are critical of its policies, as has been suggested by Peacefire and other organizations? If so, who is responsible for these decisions? Lastly, is it also true that ALL addresses within a specific domain are systematically blocked when more than one site within that domain contains material which your organization finds objectionable? Frankly, does this not seem to be a fairly efficient manner of eventually blocking the entire Internet? I appreciate your time and thank you in advance for your response to my queries. I understand that you want your customers to make informed decisions about your products, and I am sure you realize that I need to provide a similar level of information to my own clients.
