How to bypass the RM SafetyNet filter

If you're a student in the U.K., the odds are that at some point you've needed to access a website and run into this message:

RM is the company that supplies the Internet filter to schools in the U.K. (According to their website, they used to be called "Research Machines" but are now just called "RM".) Like most Internet filters, the RM SafetyNet filter relies on a "blacklist" of sites that the filter is configured to block.

Sometimes users can get around the filter temporarily by finding a proxy site, but most of the time those will get added to the blacklist and blocked after a few uses. To avoid this problem, you can sign up for our proxy mailing list at the bottom of this page. On the mailing list, we announce several new proxies or "Circumventor" sites every week, so that by the time one of them gets blocked by the RM SafetyNet filter, we've usually already mailed out the next one. We can't list the Circumventor sites on this page, since they would get blocked if we did. But if you sign up on the e-mail list, we can send you new ones as they are released.
